Every year in summer
Maxi-rires Festival
This humorous festival takes place at the beginning of the summer season. Founded by two young Champérolains in 2007, this event now welcomes nearly 5,000 visitors each year over five evenings with shows by international celebrities.
A quick wink… visit our hallway at the Reception, our “Hall of Fame”, and you will discover with whom you could have breakfast during this period…
Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB
The Pass’Portes is a gigantic Mountain Bike meeting that allows you to discover the impressive Portes-du-Soleil estate and its magnificent landscapes. The route is located between 1000 and 2450 m above sea level, between France and Switzerland. Take a 15-minute lift ride through the Portes-du-Soleil (24 in total open all summer). This event takes place on a single day, mountain bikers choose to start on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. But the most enthusiastic will like to cumulate over the whole weekend.
Musical Events
For the past 12 years, the Rencontres Musicales de Champéry has been offering quality classical music programs in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Due to its reasonable size, the festival retains its soul, authenticity and freshness, particularly thanks to the concert venues, namely the Church and the Temple.
National Day – August 1st
It’s the must-see summer event! Every year, Champéry organizes a National Day of almost international scope!
Discover all day long, games like the bouncy castle for children, stands for adults… All this surrounded by musical activities, folk group productions, paragliding first flights, etc..
In the evening, Champéry offers its traditional torchlight procession, which has been renowned for many years now. In good weather, you will have the chance to see the fires that illuminate some of the peaks of the Dents-du-Midi and surrounding areas. After the official speeches and the magnificent fireworks display, the evening ends with a great popular ball!
Champéry Wine Festival
The wine festival in Champéry is an important summer event, both for specialists and connoisseurs, as well as for lovers of gustatory pleasures, eager to test and possibly acquire quality wines. Thus, around the theme “Discover-Taste-Appreciate”, families are also welcome, since a bouncy castle is at the disposal of children free of charge, allowing adults, in complete peace of mind, to visit one after the other the stands of the 15 wine-growers represented.
Trail des Dents-du-Midi
The Trail des Dents-du-Midi is a competitive and sporting event. A pioneer of Valais hiking tours, the Dents-du-Midi tour owes its reputation to the marathon run for more than 40 years in a majestic alpine setting.
The landscapes of the Dents-du-Midi with their extraordinary panoramic views will accompany you throughout the race. Lakes, waterfalls, torrents seem to be competing for your admiration with forests, rocky outcrops and mountain pastures.

Every year in Winter time
Derby de Chavannette
The Chavanette Derby is an event based on values based on the pleasure of competing and not on competition at all costs. The ingredients for a show that is worth a visit are first of all, a mythical trail such as the Pas de Chavanette downhill trail, known worldwide, more particularly under the name of Mur Suisse or “Swiss Wall” in Champéry – Les Crosets / Portes-du-Soleil. Indeed, it highlights a track with up to 40° of slope! The other essential ingredients are the commitment and sportsmanship of the participants. The event requires a good technical level, however, the Derby remains open to everyone and to any sliding equipment.
Rock the Pistes Festival
The best of the French-speaking and international pop/rock scene… A unique festival in Europe accessible with your ski pass! During the day, festivalgoers move skis on their skis to the ephemeral scenes moved at night.
For 5 days, the 12 Franco-Swiss resorts of the Portes-du-Soleil ski area live to the rhythm of these free concerts in the exceptional and unusual setting of the ski area! The Rock the Pistes Festival is an explosion of pure sensations!
Welsh Alpine Championships
More than 100 ski racers from all over the UK are competing in this top-level race in an attempt to win the Celtic Cup. The top skiers in the United Kingdom are there to race down the slopes of the sation and try to win the title.
Colargol Cup
Discover the spirit of this race that was established in this valley some thirty years ago. The idea of this test is to demonstrate the qualities and versatility of telemarkers. Giant slalom, skating, jumps, looms and a surprise station to make it even more challenging. The purpose of this meeting is not only to give runners the opportunity to compete against each other, but also to create a festive meeting bringing together all the friends of the free heel in a relaxed atmosphere and in the idyllic setting of the Valaisan Alps.

In the Past
World Championship of MTB
The world mountain bike championships were held in Champéry in September 2011, in the region called Grand-Paradiso. Mountain bikers and mountain bikers, the best in the business, competed in downhill, cross-country, four-cross and trial. They provided visitors with spectacular competitions.
European Curling Championships
In December 2010, the European Curling Championships were held in Champéry, in the heart of the Palladium. It was a huge success, with spectators, organizers and participants delighted by the atmosphere that reigned in the village during these 12 days of competitions. 30 countries with a total of 46 teams (men and women) took part in this tournament of an extremely demanding sport. The Champéry Palladium has proved its worth and recently became the new National Ice Sports Centre, 3rd in Switzerland.
FOJE – Festival Olympique de la Jeunesse Européenne
Placed under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), it is a multidisciplinary competition similar to the Olympic Games, the EYOWF.
This gigantic event was held in Champéry in 2005, giving young people aged 14 to 18, selected by the 48 European National Olympic Committees, the opportunity to compete in a good-natured but very serious atmosphere. Event organized every 2 years since 1991, there are usually 2 editions organized during the same year:
- Winter: ice sports and skiing
- Summer: athletics, cycling, gymnastics, judo, swimming, table tennis, basketball, football, handball, and volleyball.
